Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
i didnt suggest him as an up and comer , more as an experianced keeper who is happy to sit on the bench.

that said, there are better cheap options out there im sure

Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
Your choices are either a challenger to the number 1 .... we have that already in Adrian ..... an older keeper (prob 33 and above) who is happy to be a back up and get a few games or someone in their early 20's who you are grooming to eventually take over.

From a team point of view you'd prefer the first and the last is difficult because someone like say Bentley at Brentford really should be playing games.
More likely you get someone like Robert Green who is winding down his career. We have to remember whoever it is he at LEAST will have to play two games v Man City.

Gerken's not exactly an up and coming keeper. 32 years old and played only 2 league games last season. We don't want Ipswich's reserve at West Ham.

Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
The question of keeping Adrian or letting him go is much more about what the player himself wants to do and the level of interest in him, and not what we want. If a decent PL/La Liga offer comes in I'd expect him to go, regardless of his contract situation.

My guess is he probably will go and money will drive it; he must be worth considerably more than Randolph. We'll likely get an up and coming keeper and gamble on Hart staying fit and not being shit.

Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
I'd keep Adrian unless someone offers us absolutely stupid money.
He was happy to sign a contract that we extended so should get his head down and try and take Hart's place.
If I was the Spanish manager I wouldn't be impressed by someone who reckons he has no chance of displacing Senor Josep Hart.

I don't speak Spanish but would happily take the job if they want to call me.

Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
Hart and Adrian is decent competition. Starting the season with two unfamiliar keepers behind our defence seems like a pretty stupid idea. Hart might end up being shit too. I dont think even Bilic would be this stupid would he?

Lertie Button 4:53 Sat Jul 22
Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
No 2? Hart's so good he can be the no 1, 2 and 3 keeper simultaneously.
The only problem is if he leaves at the end of the season we will need to sign 3 to 4 goalies in one go

Re: New number 2 goalkeeper?
Young trott would be to big a risk to have as back up if adrian was sold. I would sell adrian and maybe try to nab the southend goalkeeper ( cant recall his name but has had some good reports). Or even go get rob green as back up and play hart in every league and cup game if fit.
